Each summer we shear our sheep, and as you can imagine form the varieties of different breeds we keep there is a beautiful selection of fleeces at the end of the day.

Most of our wool is sent to British Wool in Bradford who grade and sell the wool on our behalf. But, we keep some of our Jacob and Herdwick fleeces back for private sale to customers around the country.

If you are interested in buying fleeces directly from us, please get in touch for more information.

Wool, over a number of years has 'gone out of fashion' as the rise in cheap, man made materials have become more popular and easily available. This means not only has the demand for wool dropped, but also the prices we as farmers get for our wool. The quality and breed of sheep the wool has come from has a huge impact on the price British Wool can sell our wool for. In many cases it costs more to get the sheep sheared than we get paid for our wool. But hopefully this is about to change!

British Wool do an amazing job at promoting the benefits of using wool as a natural fibre and raising it's profile as an environmentally friendly  alternative to man made, synthetic materials. This is even more important now as research reports into the effect of plastics and man made fibres on the environment are being released.
